The mission of the Swampscott Education Foundation (SEF) is to generate funds and community involvement that will enrich programs and resources offered by Swampscott Public Schools.
About SEF
Learn about the mission, work, and impact of the Swampscott Education Foundation
Formed to drive educational excellence, SEF will supplement public funding with private sector financing to maximize impact to our schools. These funds will finance projects that cannot be provided by the district budget, state aid, or our Parent Teacher Organizations.
The SEF committee will draw on insights from school administrators, parents, and community members to promote an elite public school system for our community.

Join us for an elevated evening to make waves for Swampscott schools. Ticket prices are $80/per person, which include light bites, photo booth, DJ and dancing. There will be a cash bar and all proceeds will support SEF.

Supporting Educators through Holocaust Education
The Swampscott Education Foundation is proud to support Swampscott Public School educators participating in a powerful professional development experience in Poland through the Lappin Foundation. The participating educators are currently enrolled in the Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies at Salem State University.
This immersive experience through the Lappin Foundation is designed to build radical empathy, deepen understanding of antisemitism and Holocaust education, and bring meaningful knowledge and perspective back to Swampscott Public Schools.
The program includes visits to Auschwitz-Birkenau and Majdanek, the Children’s Forest in Zbylitowska Góra, and the cities of Krakow and Lublin.

Weekly Staff Appreciation Raffle
Each week Superintendent Calichman will spin a virtual wheel to reward one Swampscott Public School staff member with a $40 gift card. SEF donates these gift cards to demonstrate our appreciation and support for the incredible teachers of SPS. Congratulations to our first winner: Ms. Cepeda, the 7th grade Math teacher!
Raised $1,000 for the High School Robotics Team
The Swampscott High School Robotics Team, known as The 4311 Currents, is a student-led organization competing in the annual FIRST Robotics Competition. Each year, members collaborate over an intense build season to design, program, and construct an industrial-sized robot. Roles on the team range from Programming, CAD Designing, and Electronics, to Manufacturing, Media, and Admin. This diverse structure ensures every student can find a specialty matching their unique technical or organizational interests. Through recent support from our community and the school, the 4311 Currents team was able to purchase the parts and materials to compete at a high level in local competitions. For the past 3 years we have qualified for District Championships and will hopefully bid for World Championships in the next few years.
Band Uniforms Donated to SHS Marching Band
The Swampscott High School (SHS) band has grown substantially in the last 3 years, from 31-52 members under our band director Edi Rovi. The Swampscott Education Foundation (SEF) donated $16,000 to provide new band uniforms to all participating students.
About the SHS Band:
The SHS band performs for our community at sporting events, concerts, parades, and other community gatherings. Supporting the continued growth of our band program allows more students to harness a love of music, and stay involved in school and community events.
