What is the SEF and what does it do?
The mission of the Swampscott Education Foundation is to generate financial resources and community involvement to enhance education and opportunities in the Swampscott Public Schools.
Formed to support educational excellence for our public schools, the goal of the SEF is to supplement funding for programs already supported by public financing at a basic level, but which can be substantially improved by additional private sector financing. The SEF's primary goal is to finance programs that do not receive funding from traditional sources, such as the district budget, state aid, and our Parent Teacher Organizations.
The SEF’s main goal is to raise funds to finance programs that might not get money from the government and goes beyond the support that our Parent Teacher Organizations can support.
SEF Leadership
The SEF is led by a committee made up of members of the community working in concert with, but independent of, the Swampscott Public Schools.
How are PTOs different than the SEF?
We both raise funds, but the focus of SEF will be on larger scale initiatives and impact. For example, we will facilitate technology upgrades/renewal, implementation of literacy programs, growth of underfunded areas, multi-year campaigns for various structure enhancements, and much more.
